My Community Environment Day

Date: Saturday, May 28

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Location: York Mills C.I. (490 York Mills Road – East Parking Lot)

My Environment Day is a great opportunity to clear out forgotten items during your spring cleaning as well as used electronics and household hazardous waste.

You can bring everything from computer equipment and electronics to compact and fluorescent light bulbs for disposal and recycling. We’ll also accept items for donation such as sporting goods and books and small household items like dishes and utensils.

City staff will also be giving out one cubic meter of compost per household – for free! – on the west side of the high school.

Other groups attending my Environment Day include:

  • Toronto Water
  • Solid Waste Management Services
  • Live Green Toronto
  • 311 Toronto
  • Toronto Hydro
  • The Salvation Army

Slow Down Signs Available

As you may know, Transportation Services recently launched a Traffic Safety Campaign featuring “Slow Down” lawn signs. The signs are an effective way to remind drivers to respect the speed limit – especially on local and residential streets.

If you’re interested in getting a sign for your lawn, you can pick one up tomorrow at my Environment Day!

Quantity is limited – signs will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.

Congratulations to the Bedford-Wanless Ratepayers Association on their 1st annual Spring Fair – it was great to see the community come together despite the weather!
