Dear Friends and Neighbours,

As you know, last night Toronto experienced a very significant rainfall. More rain (15-20mm) is expected today with the potential for thunderstorms later in the afternoon.

City staff have been working throughout the night to restore services – from power to roadways to transit – that were affected by last night’s storm. I can speak to the impact personally having spent the better part of last night bailing out waist deep water that was flowing into my basement.

First responders, city staff and each and every neighbour who pitched in last night deserve special thanks.

Power outages were reported in Ward 25. For an up-to-date map of affected areas, please visit http://bit.ly/15afAKf. To report a power outage, please call Toronto Hydro’s Lights Out Hotline at (416) 542-8000.

For the most up-to-date information about TTC service, please visit the TTC’s Service Alerts page at http://bit.ly/16mIJBe.

If you have experienced basement flooding or any other storm-related problems, such as a blocked basement drain or sewer back-up, please call 311 or email 311@toronto.ca, available 24 hours-a-day and seven days-a week. Your patience is appreciated as call volumes will be greater than usual.

For safety information and tips about how to clean up a flooded basement, please visit http://bit.ly/12VuhSz.

As of this morning (July 9), all city garbage service is running normally.

Please use caution in parks. Staff are assessing flooding and downed trees.

To contact the police, you should call 911 for emergencies and (416) 808-2222 for non-emergencies.

For Hoggs Hollow residents, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) advised me that there are no issues related to slope stability on the banks of the Don River. TRCA will conduct a further investigation once the water recedes but there are no immediate issues.

You should also never hesitate to contact my office by phone at (416) 395-6408 or by email at Councillor_Robinson@toronto.ca for any and all assistance.
