The Sheppard Avenue East Corridor

Community News |

As I am sure many of you are aware, a special meeting of Toronto City Council has been called for Wednesday March 21st, 2012. During this meeting, Council will determine which transit option is best suited for the Sheppard Avenue East corridor. Attached please find two reports that provide important background information and analysis on this issue.

The first report, authored by the Toronto Transit Infrastructure Limited (TTIL), supports a subway along the Sheppard Avenue East corridor, from Don Mills station to Scarborough Town Centre, using staged implementation that would see sections built over time as funding permits. The first section to be built would stretch from Don Mills to Victoria Park, with Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) serving the remainder of the route.

The second report, which we received Friday, was authored by the Sheppard Avenue Advisory Panel and supports an LRT, street level option along the Sheppard Avenue East corridor, from Don Mills station to Morningside.

Given the importance of this decision and the impact on Torontonians, I welcome your input by email. Please also feel free to forward this email to fellow Ward 25 neighbours and friends who may not be on my distribution list.

Please note that although I will be unable to respond to your email, your position will be taken into account and will play a large part in my decision making on Wednesday. If you have already contacted my office with your position, thank you!

Best Regards,

Jaye Robinson, City Councillor, Ward 25 – Don Valley West
