Fall 2016 eNewsletter

Jaye Robinson

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

The fall season is now upon us, and it’s been a busy few months at City Hall and in Ward 25!

First and foremost, I want to share that the province has formally launched a review of the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB). Since I was elected in 2010, nearly every major development application in Ward 25 has been appealed to the OMB, and I’ve repeatedly spoken out about the need for the City of Toronto to have the final say over the character of its own neighbourhoods.

This provincial review is an important step on the path towards planning reform in our city, and I encourage you to get involved this fall. Full details on the review and consultation opportunities are provided below.

This fall, as Chair of Public Works, I’m also pleased to let you know that the city is taking a serious look at alternatives to allowing developers to take up traffic lanes for construction staging. Back in 2015, I led the charge to increase fees for occupying traffic lanes, but it’s clear that we need to do more to encourage private builders to minimize their use of the public right of way.

I’ve also included additional updates on the city’s Congestion Management Plan and the recently approved Road Safety Plan. Keep reading as well to learn about how I’m pushing the city to get proactive on electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.

To cap it off, this eNewsletter is packed with great information about parks and community enhancements, local fundraising initiatives and exciting fall events in Ward 25, like this weekend’s Art Show at the Lawrence Park Community Church! To view the whole newsletter Click Here

As always, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions or concerns. Just send me an email at Councillor_Robinson@toronto.ca or give me a call at (416) 395-6408.

I look forward to hearing from you!
